Block vs Ignore vs Mute

Recently Google+ rolled out a new neat option called Ignore. (Watch youtube intro here.)

Ignore is an option less harsh than the existing Block option.

On Google+, the way to ignore is almost like to block a person (visit http://gplusabc.com/google-plus-circles-in-a-nutshell#block-a-person for more information on how to block a person).

How To Private Message On Google+?

Lately I stumbled upon a person on Google+ whom could be a good old friend. I wanted to check if he is who he is.

Knowing there's no private message button on google+, a thought came to me: If the visibility of a post is limited to one person, who is not in my circles, wouldn't this already a private message?

You bet.

Easy steps to Private Message

1. Type your message in the stream box.

2. You could mention his name anywhere in the box, by typing + or @, then the user's name. Google+ will auto-complete the names, suggesting a list of 5 names.

Google+ Profile URL Shorteners

There are lots of good things to be said about Google+.

That said, Google+ does not come without its flaws. One noticeable shortcoming is the long clumsy url of profile page.

Imagine sharing my Google+ profile on business card, am I going to let https://plus.google.com/100659344175170335205/posts takes up 1/3 of the space?

Advantages Of Using Your Google+ Sparks

Among many useful features when comparing Google+ to other social networking sites, one most powerful feature to single out the competitors, in my opinion, is Sparks

How To Use Sparks

Google+ feeds all the contents from various sources including web, news, blog posts, etc, in some what chronologically sorted fashion, where only recent contents were fed, to make sure all the contents are latest and relevant.

You have a website, and would like to implement this +1 button onto your site.

What you need to do?

3 Text Formatting in G+:

We can play with different text formattings in Google+ posts.

For example:

1. *Bold* -> Bold
2. _Italics_ -> Italics
3.  -Strikethrough- -> Strikethrough

(At this time of writing, underlined is not suppoted in Google+ post).

You can even mix different formattings in between the characters.

Try copying the text below:

This is *bold*
This is _italics_
This is -strikethrough-
We can mix with *_different formattings_*

(paste it in your Google+ post stream like below)
